Katie Ziemnik
Assistant Coach

Katie Ziemnik enters her first season with the Green and Gold after working at Arizona State University for two-years.  She was a graduate assistant for the Sun Devils focusing on marketing and basketball duties.

Prior to Arizona State, Ziemnik was a head coach for the U17 Colorado Premier Basketball Club, assistant girls' varsity basketball coach for Mullen High School, and volunteer assistant for Colorado Christian University.

Ziemnik completed her undergraduate studies in Nursing at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she played two seasons for the Titans. She helped her team to the NCAA Division III National Tournament while at IWU. She received her master's degree in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University.


Leah Szabla
Graduate Assistant Coach

Leah Szabla heads into her first season with the Yellow Jackets following her athletic career at the University of North Dakota.

Szabla was a four-year starter for the Fighting Hawks and led her team to two Big Sky Championships. In her basketball campaign, she was named captain, reached the 1,000 points milestones, and played in the NCAA and WNIT post-season tournaments.

A student first and foremost, Szabla made the honor roll and was an All-Big Sky Academic Team member all four years. Her undergraduate studies were focused in Psychology and Sociology.

She will be pursuing her master’s in leadership while at Black Hills State.
